Biography

Alaziz Atef (b. 1996, Al-Arroub Refugee Camp, Palestine) is a Palestinian artist based in Ramallah who works in mixed media, calligraphy, drawing and installation. His gallery's key terms are fragility, Palestinization and endurance. He builds layered works from gauze bandage and paper, which absorb pigment and ointment. He has also drawn calligraphy in ballpoint pen and coffee on sugar wrapping paper.

Atef painted graffiti and murals in Arroub camp as a teenager. Held in Israel's Ofer prison from November 2021 to June 2022, he made about 170 pieces in pen and coffee. Fifty were smuggled out. Palestine raises up and brings down, made after the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh, writes Falastin in Murabba' style. Depletion (2026) gathers 78 gauze and paper works and installations responding to images of injury from Gaza.

He holds a Birzeit University BA (2020) in Political Science and International Relations. His first exhibition, Room 14, showed over 40 prison works at the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Centre, Ramallah (2022). Room 14: Artworks from the Palestinian Prisoners' Movement, at Cornerstone Studios, London (2025), centred on his work. He took part in the Ramallah Art Fair at Zawyeh Gallery, Ramallah (2024 and 2026). His solo show Depletion opened there in 2026.
