Abdul Rahman Al Muzayyen

Abdul Rahman Al Muzayyen (b. 1943, Al-Qubayba, Palestine) is a Palestinian painter, writer and researcher. He paints in oil on canvas and draws in ink on paper, and he has designed posters and murals. His subjects and motifs come from Canaanite history and Palestinian folklore, including the embroidery patterns of Palestinian dress.

After 1948 his family moved to the Khan Younis refugee camp in Gaza. He studied drawing and painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Helwan University in Alexandria, graduating in 1966, and later took a master's degree. In 1993 he received a doctorate in archaeology and history from the University of Khartoum. The Land Day (1980) is an ink drawing on paper. Anat and the Intifada is a cycle of 42 ink drawings made between 2000 and 2003. It takes the Canaanite goddess Anat as its subject. Fann À Porter describes works from this cycle and the Al Asayel series as calligraphic.

He co-founded the General Union of Palestinian Plastic Artists in 1970 and the General Union of Arab Plastic Artists in 1971. In 1980 he founded the Al-Ard Artists' Group, and he later formed a studio of revolutionary artists in Damascus with Mostafa Al Hallaj. He has written books on Palestinian heritage and taught at Al-Aqsa University. Anat and the Intifada was shown in a solo exhibition at the Omani Society for Fine Arts, Muscat, in 2011. Works from both series were shown in Essence of Egypt at Fann À Porter, Dubai, in 2026.
