About

Taksim Sanat is a public exhibition space at the entrance to Taksim Metro station in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. It is run by Kültür AŞ, the culture company of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and its art projects are not for profit. The space began a new life as a gallery in 2018.

Its stated aim is to back original and independent artists and help them become known in the art world. Subjects are chosen with young audiences in mind, and the space also works with established names. Future plans include performance, digital and interdisciplinary art, made with collectives and independent groups.

Its position in the metro brings in a broad public, and for some visitors it is a first meeting with art of today. For the ninth 212 Photography Istanbul festival in 2026, it hosted Beden Halleri: Les Félicités 2026. The show presents eight young artists who won the 2026 Félicité awards of ENSP, the national photography school in Arles.
