Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation

The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation grew out of an award the poet Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais set up on 17 December 1987 to honour Arab authors, thinkers and scientists. It became an independent foundation in 1992 and was formally established by Emiri Decree No. 4 of 21 March 1994.

It is based in Dar Sultan Building on Rigga Street, Dubai. The building has a 400-seat theatre, a library of modern Arabic literature with 40,000 titles, and exhibition halls, including a permanent display of the poet's belongings and portraits of Al Owais Award winners. It also hosts art exhibitions, such as the 2026 retrospective of Abdullatif Al Smoudi.
