Sharjah Calligraphy Museum
Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, established 2002
A museum of Arabic calligraphy on Calligraphy Square in the Heart of Sharjah.

About
Sharjah Calligraphy Museum opened on 12 June 2002 on Calligraphy Square in the Heart of Sharjah. It occupies the house of Hamad Al Midfa and is one of the museums run by Sharjah Museums Authority.
The museum follows the development of Arabic calligraphy across the centuries. Its rooms show works by calligraphers and artists from the UAE and abroad, in which script, letterforms and shapes carry the composition.
A changing programme of exhibitions sets out to make the public more aware of calligraphy as a heritage worth keeping. The museum is among the venues of the 12th Sharjah Calligraphy Forum, which opened in October 2026 with 681 works across the city. Daily drop-in sessions offer hands-on activities for children aged 6 to 12 and their families.
