Sharjah Calligraphy Forum

The Sharjah Calligraphy Forum (Multaqa Al Sharjah lil Khatt), also published in English as the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial, is organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Sharjah Department of Culture under the patronage of the Ruler of Sharjah. It began in 2004 and is directed by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qasir.

Each edition has an open call for a general exhibition covering classical calligraphy and modern and contemporary calligraphic art, including hurufiyya and installation, with a jury and cash prizes. Honoured calligraphers receive solo exhibitions in Calligraphy Square in the Heart of Sharjah.
