About

Sharjah Architecture Triennial, known as SAT, is a Sharjah platform devoted to architecture and urbanism. It was founded in 2018 by the late Sheikh Khalid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi. Hoor Al Qasimi has led it since, as President and Director. Its headquarters are in Al Qasimiyah School, a former school in Al Manakh.

The triennial looks at architecture and the city across West Asia, South Asia and Africa. The first edition, Rights of Future Generations, took place in 2019. Tosin Oshinowo curated the second, The Beauty of Impermanence: An Architecture of Adaptability, from November 2023 to March 2024.

The third edition, Architecture Otherwise: Building Civic Infrastructure for Collective Futures, runs from 14 November 2026 to 14 April 2027. Vyjayanthi Rao curates it with Tau Tavengwa, bringing together 32 participants. Between editions, SAT holds talks, tours, archive exhibitions and research programmes in Sharjah.
