Sadu House
Kuwait City, Kuwait, established 1980
Museum of Kuwaiti Bedouin weaving and textile heritage in a 1936 house in Kuwait City.

About
Sadu House is a museum of Kuwaiti weaving on Arabian Gulf Street in Kuwait City, beside the National Museum of Kuwait. It is run by the AlSadu Weaving Cooperative Society, a non-profit body that works to preserve, document and promote the textile heritage of Kuwait.
The building is a traditional Kuwaiti house built in 1936 for Youssef Al Marzouk, with four open courtyards and wooden doors brought from Karachi. The State bought it in the 1970s. In 1980 it became a home for weaving and textiles, and it was restored in 2006.
The museum follows Bedouin weaving from the desert to the town, with pieces including the House of Hair and men's cloaks. The house also holds exhibitions, guided tours and a library of weaving publications. Its Studio SADI residency gives one local artist or creative a year to work on textile design, and grew out of the SADI initiative launched in 2016.
