Pera Museum
Istanbul, Turkey, established 2005
A private museum in Tepebaşı, Istanbul, showing Orientalist painting and international exhibitions.

About
Pera Museum is a private museum in Tepebaşı, in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul. The Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation founded it, and it opened to the public on 8 June 2005.
The museum shows three of the foundation's collections: Orientalist painting, Anatolian weights and measures, and Kütahya tiles and ceramics. Its temporary exhibitions have brought work by Rembrandt, Frida Kahlo, Joan Miró, Josef Koudelka and Andy Warhol to Istanbul, often with partner museums abroad. Frank Bowling: Creation and Destruction runs from 29 September 2026 to 31 January 2027.
The building opened in 1893 as the Bristol Hotel, designed by the architect Achille Manoussos, and later housed the headquarters of Esbank. The architect Sinan Genim turned it into a museum, keeping the original façade on Meşrutiyet Street. Each exhibition comes with a catalogue and a learning programme, and Pera Film screens films linked to the themes of the shows. Entry is free on Friday evenings from 6pm to 10pm.
