About
The Musée de la Photographie et des Arts Visuels de Casablanca is a museum of photography and the visual arts in the old medina of Casablanca. It opened on 23 June 2026 and is run by the Fondation Nationale des Musées. The foundation took on its management under an agreement signed in January 2026 with the regional and city authorities and the Agence Urbaine de Casablanca.
The building was designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando. The arcades and older walls of the site were kept, and a new extension in bare concrete was added behind them. A long glass frontage lets passers-by see inside. Press reports place it on the site of a nineteenth-century foundouk, near the Sqala.
The museum holds exhibitions, meetings, lectures and other artistic events. It aims to widen access to art and to offer young people a place of expression and discovery. Its first exhibition, CASA, brings together 47 Moroccan and international photographers and visual artists around the city of Casablanca.
