About

Meşher is an exhibition space of the Vehbi Koç Foundation on İstiklal Caddesi in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. It opened in September 2019, and its name is the Ottoman Turkish word for a place of exhibition. Entry is free.

Most of its exhibitions are developed in house with specialists and institutions in Turkey and abroad, and they range across disciplines. Past shows have covered contemporary European ceramics, the Istanbul years of Alexis Gritchenko and a century of women artists. Publications, workshops, talks and free guided tours run alongside them.

The building is recorded as the Friedmann Apartmanı on a map of 1905 and later as Meymaret Han and Meymenet Han. After restoration between 2007 and 2009, it housed Arter, the foundation's contemporary art space, until the end of 2018.
