Hara
Istanbul, Turkey, established 2022
An independent art and culture space with a sculpture garden in the Uskumruköy forest, Istanbul.

About
Hara is an independent art and culture venue in the forests of Uskumruköy, Sarıyer, on the outskirts of Istanbul. The artist Canan Bozbağ founded it in 2022. An exhibition board made up mostly of artists shapes its art programme.
Its annual exhibition gives emerging artists the chance to stage a first major solo show. Its first show was Güneş Terkol's solo exhibition Soundscapes, and in 2024 showed Cansu Yıldıran after a six-month residency on site. Its 2026 exhibition, The Promises of Monsters, curated by Ezgi Hamzaçebi, brings together ten artists working in sculpture, installation, photography and video.
The building, designed by Ertan Ergöçmen and Özgür Karasu with Cengiz Kurt, has 2,000 square metres of indoor space. A garden by the landscape architect Ermanno Casasco holds a permanent sculpture collection. Hara also runs the Haravan residency, concerts, performances and learning programmes for all ages.
