About

Dubai Collection is a publicly accessible body of modern and contemporary artworks, lent for the long term by private patrons. It began in spring 2021 with works mostly from the collection of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. A steering committee chaired by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum oversees it, and the Art Dubai Group manages it.

Works are selected by a separate curatorial committee under Muna Al Gurg, and they number more than a thousand. The collection has no building of its own. It is shared through an online archive with research texts and through exhibitions in venues across Dubai.

Its first show, When Images Speak, ran at the Etihad Museum in 2021 and 2022. Since then it has shown at Art Dubai and, in early 2026, at Al Safa Art and Design Library. Made Forward, curated by Jumanah Abbas, drew on twenty private collections bringing together artists from North Africa, West Asia and South Asia.
