About

Al Safa Art and Design Library belongs to the Dubai Public Library network, which Dubai Culture and Arts Authority runs. It stands on Al Wasl Street, across from Al Safa Park in Dubai. Founded in 1989, the library went through a renovation in 2018 that gave it its present contemporary building and interiors.

Its shelves concentrate on art and design: fine art, sculpture, architecture, Arabic calligraphy, performing arts, music and jewellery. Beside the adult and children's sections, it has a gallery that shows paintings by local and international artists, and a section for digital resources. Material is held in Arabic, English, Hindi, Chinese and French, and in Braille.

The gallery also hosts programmes by other organisations. From 24 February to 8 March 2026 it showed In Attunement, a Dubai Collection exhibition that opened the fourth Dubai Collection Nights. HIPA holds photography workshops in the building too.
