About
The Khan is a store and art gallery on two floors in Old Damascus. It occupies a caravanserai from the Ottoman period, about 300 years old, on Straight Street in the Midhat Pasha souk. Striped stone arches and a glass roof frame its main hall, where a red glass chandelier hangs.
The ground floor sells clothes, accessories, crafts and soap by designers and makers from the Levant. Upstairs, a gallery shows contemporary painting and sculpture by Syrian artists, alongside looms for weaving rugs and brocade and a studio where an artist works in residence.
The building first housed Villa Moda Damascus, a fashion store whose project was frozen during the war. Its founders reopened it as The Khan in 2025, adding a contemporary art programme to the shop.
