Martch Art Project

About

Bahar Kızgut founded Martch Art Project, a contemporary art gallery in Istanbul, in 2018. Its exhibition space, which the gallery calls Martch Pera, is on the first floor of a building on Sofyalı Sokak in Asmalı Mescit, Beyoğlu. The gallery represents a group of artists, among them Roger Ballen, Mustafa Boğa, Zeynep Beler, Casper Faassen, Merve Denizci and Alp Sime.

Alongside representation, the gallery curates exhibitions in its own rooms and off site, working across disciplines to find openings for its artists in Turkey and abroad. Solo shows at the gallery in 2026 included Casper Faassen's ReCollecting Anatolia, from 3 April to 17 May, his first solo exhibition in Türkiye. Cenk Düzyol's A Better Place followed from 21 May to 20 June, his second solo show at the gallery.

In 2023 the gallery held the third edition of Martch Studio, a residency in Ayvalık. A committee of art professionals chose local and international artists, who spent three months there, from March to June, with accommodation, a shared studio and financial support. The gallery takes part in art fairs such as Contemporary Istanbul and Art Paris.
