About
BüroSarıgedik is an artist representation office in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, set up in 2017 by Esra Sarıgedik Öktem. The office was created to give artists firmer support and a closer, steadier form of representation, in answer to the way the art scene works today. Its list of ten artists includes Gülsün Karamustafa, Cengiz Çekil, Eda Çekil, Meriç Algün, Erdem Taşdelen, Dilek Winchester and Atalay Yavuz.
In practice it organises shows at home and abroad, raises money for new work and produces publications on its artists. It also partners with institutions and places pieces in public and private collections. Institutional announcements credit works by its artists with the line "Courtesy of the artist and BüroSarıgedik", among them Lunds konsthall in 2022 and Marta Herford in 2024. At the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024, Sarıgedik Öktem curated the Pavilion of Türkiye with Karamustafa as its artist.
The programme moves between solo and group presentations. The earliest show on its exhibition list is Oyun by Erdil Yaşaroğlu in 2019. Later came the group show Tutunmak in 2021 and the Display I and Display II programmes of 2022 and 2023, each a set of concurrent presentations. Some projects reach beyond its own rooms. Yaşaroğlu's T R A N S A T L A N T I C was held at the Alexandre Vallaury Building. In 2025 Karamustafa's Bir Nevi İşgal Hali extended from BüroSarıgedik into Merdiven Art Space.
