About
The A.M. Qattan Foundation is an independent, non-profit foundation dedicated, in its own words, to fostering a vibrant cultural and educational environment that promotes emancipatory thought, knowledge and creativity. It was established in 1993 as a UK registered charity and began working in Palestine in 1998.
Its Al-Qattan Cultural Centre in the Al-Tira neighbourhood of Ramallah opened in 2018: a building of about 7,740 square metres with a gallery, a library of more than 22,000 books, a theatre, multipurpose halls and artist studios, designed around solar energy, rainwater collection and greywater recycling. The foundation also runs the Qattan Cultural Centre in Gaza and The Mosaic Rooms in London, and supports artists through grants, residencies and public programmes.
