Press release
The Ones We Carry is the first solo exhibition of the painter Amira Ayoub, at Art Talks in Zamalek, Cairo. It opens on 15 September 2026.
The paintings show pale figures, children, solitary women and anonymous crowds. Published reproductions show pregnant women, mothers carrying children and massed rows of children. Sada El Balad describes new works on the relation between the individual and the group, fragility and resilience, care and belonging. Writing for Youm7, the artist Faten Mostafa Kanafani notes large dark eyes, elongated bodies, silent expressions and a muted palette, with children emerging from maternal forms or floating in transparent cocoons.
Ayoub studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, where her 2025 graduation project was a pair of large oil paintings on canvas about motherhood. She received an encouragement prize and an acquisition prize at the thirty-fourth Youth Salon. The exhibition follows her first prize in the second edition of Masr Walada, a competition organised by Art Talks.
