Private World

Green Art Gallery opens its new season on Alserkal Avenue with Private World, a quiet, closely hung group exhibition that runs from 23 September to 24 October 2026. It brings together four artists from across the Gulf, the Levant and South Asia: Saudi painter Lulua Alyahya, Emirati artist Rami Farook, Indian photographer and artist Sohrab Hura, who is based in New Delhi, and Palestinian artist Khaled Jarada, who was born in Gaza and now lives in Paris.

The works are modest in scale, and that is the point. In the gallery's words, they "draw the viewer into intimate, elusive worlds", asking for a closer, more inward kind of looking. Rather than addressing a crowd, each piece sets up something closer to a one-to-one encounter.

Across the show, intimacy takes several forms: personal observation, fragments and fleeting moments, relationships and lived experience, and spaces that feel atmospheric or psychologically charged. Many of the works evoke solitude, seclusion and inward attention, carving out room for reflection and feeling apart from the demands of the outside world.

The pairing is telling. Jarada, whom the gallery began representing this year, makes charcoal drawings of figures caught mid-moment, off-balance and subtly displaced, a practice shaped by exile. Farook, a self-taught artist born in Dubai in 1981, is a familiar name in the UAE scene, while Alyahya, a Slade graduate, paints idle, candid figures against dreamlike, desert-like backdrops. Hura, a full member of Magnum Photos since 2020, brings the introspective visual diaries that have become his signature.

Opening alongside the rest of Alserkal Avenue's autumn programme, Private World is a chance to see a Dubai gallery with three decades of history placing emerging Gulf and Palestinian voices in conversation with one of South Asia's most closely watched image-makers.
