Pieter Vermeersch

Pieter Vermeersch is a solo exhibition by the Belgian artist Pieter Vermeersch at Perrotin Dubai, Gate Village Building 5, DIFC. The gallery titles the show with the artist's name. It runs from 30 September to 22 November 2026.

The exhibition brings together eleven recent and earlier works, all titled Untitled. "His works move fluidly between painting, architectural elements, and geological ready-mades," the gallery writes. For his paintings, Vermeersch takes photographs without spatial references, turns them upside down and transforms them into negative images on canvas. Since 2013 he has also painted on found or cut stone, wood and petrified wood.

Walls painted in shades of grey set up an open route through the space, with the works placed in relation to one another. A new work, Untitled (2026), sets a painting and a stone side by side as two separate entities. The exhibition text is by Nataša Petrešin Bachelez.

Pieter Vermeersch was born in Kortrijk, Belgium, in 1973 and lives and works between Turin and Antwerp. His practice includes large spatial interventions, gradient wall paintings and paintings on canvas. It also takes in chiselled and milled natural stone, and photographic prints or marble slabs worked with touches of paint.

This is his ninth solo exhibition with Perrotin and his first in the United Arab Emirates.
