Press release

The First Exhibition of Jabal El-Teir International Symposium is a group exhibition of thirty-three artists at Picasso East, Fifth Settlement, New Cairo. It runs from 27 September to 27 October 2026.

Presented by East Art Way Foundation for Arts and Culture, the show brings together works made at a symposium in Minya Governorate. The symposium belongs to an initiative to revive and promote the Holy Family's Trail in Egypt. The gallery writes: "Rather than serving as visual documentation, these artworks offer contemporary interpretations that explore themes of heritage, identity, memory, and human connection." Farid Fadel shows The First Steps of Christ, painted on canvas from memory, with the Virgin in a blue robe receiving the child. His second work is an icon on wood of the Holy Family encircled by a palm.

The artists, from Egypt and other countries, are Ahmed Chiha, Mostafa Rahma, Ismail Azzam, Taysir Barakat, Farid Fadel, Salem Mathhkour, Rashid Diab, Eman Osama, Khaled Hourani, Hend El Falafly, Alaa Abu Elhamd, Fathi Afifi, Mohamed Baghdadi, Yassen Haraz, Emad Abdel Hady, Abou Ibrahim, Isabella Oschmann, Mai Heshmat, Maha Ibrahim, Gehan Fayez, Maria Moheb, Alaa El Baba, Maria Sideri, Wafaa Nashashibi, Alaa Awad, Lina Al Ayoubi, István Kőrösvölgyi, Mirela Trăistaru, Nourhan El Mahdy, Diana Fribeli, Ghadeer Rawashdeh, Manal Shoaib and Youstina Raouf. The general commissioner of the symposium is Ibrahim Ghazala.
