Boundaries and Breaches

Boundaries and Breaches is a solo exhibition by Sara Masinaei at Dom Art Projects, Warehouse 40, Al Khayat Avenue, Al Quoz 1, Dubai, from 23 September to 18 October 2026. It presents a new body of work made during her residency in the venue's Studio Support Program.

"Boundaries and Breaches explores the sensory and psychological experience of urban space," the venue writes. Masinaei collects found objects and records imprints of urban surfaces. For each imprint she lays canvas on the ground and applies her bodyweight. The exhibition's press release describes these works as monoprints made by pressing canvas directly onto urban surfaces, shown alongside sculptural pieces. Other works shift in scale and material. In the venue's words, "boundaries and breaches are not opposites, but conditions within the same system."

Sara Masinaei (b. 1982, Tehran) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Dubai. She works across installation, performance, photography, video, audio and mixed media in a research-led practice, through processes such as walking, collecting, tracing and documenting. She holds a BFA in Visual Communication, with a concentration in photography, from the American University in Dubai (2004). She also holds an MA from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London (2011).

The exhibition runs alongside Studio, Wounds, and Battles, the group presentation of the same programme at Dom Art Projects, which also includes her work. Admission is free.
