Between Memory and Forgetting

Between Memory and Forgetting is a solo exhibition by the Syrian sculptor Yamen Yousef at KAF Contemporary Art Gallery in Achrafieh, Beirut. It opens with a reception on 17 September 2026 at 6pm and continues until 16 October 2026.

The gallery introduces the exhibition in two lines: "Somewhere between remembering and forgetting, the beloved lingers, neither here nor gone, but suspended in the fragile space between," and "This exhibition is a love letter to that space."

Yamen Yousef was born in 1982 in Tartous, Syria, and studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus. He works in bronze, wood, metal, plaster, stone and recycled paper, and his artist pages describe a practice centred on the human figure, which he aims "to transmit and translate" into sculpture. He has taken part in sculpture symposiums, workshops and exhibitions in Syria and Lebanon, and in the Reconciliation through the Arts programme, which travelled to Washington DC, New York, Texas and New Mexico.
