Press release
36th Youth Salon: Personal Time is the thirty-sixth edition of the Youth Salon, a group exhibition organised by the Fine Arts Sector. It opened on 16 September 2026 at the Palace of Arts on the Cairo Opera House grounds in Zamalek, Cairo.
The salon shows work by 253 artists in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, installation, performance, photography, computer graphics, video art and interactive art. The theme, Personal Time, treats time as a human experience formed in each person's consciousness, according to the organisers. It ties time to memory, personal experience and the way past, present and future are perceived. Entry was open to Egyptian nationals aged eighteen to thirty-six. Each artist could show one work made in 2025 or 2026, not shown before and not made with artificial intelligence.
The commissioner general is Islam Abada. The Grand Prize of EGP 60,000 was shared by Omar Mohamed Gamal (painting) and Ahmed Ibrahim Helal (printmaking). Salon Prizes of EGP 30,000 went to Nageh El Ashry and Mohamed Tarek in painting and to Fatma Shawkat and Nour El Din Hussein in drawing. Basmala Mohamed El Sayed won in printmaking. Mostafa Mohamed Saad and Ali Nabil Bayoumi won in sculpture, and Jana Ahmed and Doaa Eid in ceramics. Mohamed Khaled Rabie (computer graphics) and Amira Ashraf (photography) shared the prize for photography, computer graphics and video art. The prize for installation and performance was withheld.
Encouragement prizes went to Rana Agam (sculpture), Khaled El Egeizy (painting), Hagar Barakat (installation), Aisha Sameh (video art) and Omnia Ashraf (painting). Other prizes and acquisitions came from Badya for Arts, the Mohamed Abla Foundation, Dar Anas Alawy, the Hindiya Museum, BLUE ART gallery and Motion gallery.
