Egyptian sculptor Sam Shendi was born in 1975 in Dekernes, in the Nile Delta, and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University in Cairo in 1997 with first-class honours in sculpture. He moved to Britain in 2000 and is based in North Yorkshire.
