Lara Baladi

Egyptian-Lebanese artist Lara Baladi was born in Beirut in 1969 and lives in Cairo, where she is Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of the Arts at The American University in Cairo. She studied in Paris and London (BA in business administration, Richmond American University, London) and taught in MIT's Program in Art, Culture and Technology from 2016 to 2022. Her large photomosaic Om El Dounia (2000) and the immersive Roba Vecchia (2006) established her reputation, and Borg El Amal won the Grand Nile Award at the Cairo Biennale in 2008 to 2009.
